The Bucs are very excited for this year’s spring game! They have been preparing for weeks. Everyday from 3:00 to 5:45 they are on the field doing everything they can to be prepared. Though their helmets got delayed a whole week and they haven’t yet gotten to practice in pads, they are still very confident. Coach Jeff Lee said, “Finally get full pads this week, so we get to see who are men and who are boys.” He also stated, “ We are going to set the bar high this game, so when the games start to count we can set it even higher.”

North Bay Haven’s football team is looking good for next year, with returning skilled players in offense and defense. Specifically, the secondary players such as cornerbacks and kickers will be returning. In the upcoming 2017 fall season, the Buccaneers will be able to participate in the FHSAA(Florida High School Athletic Association) class 4A state playoffs.

Coach Jeff Lee said, “I feel like we are going to just get better and better. We just need to build on last year’s success.” Since the team has recently just started winning, he said the goal they have set for next year is just to make the state playoffs.

Recently, during practices and scrimmages, the players have been looking smoother and faster as they execute the plays provided by Coach Lee. They have been playing scrimmages with other teams in the county and even on the occasions they don’t win, it ends up being a very close game. For example, on April 12 the Buccaneers scrimmaged Bay High School in a 7 on 7 practice. The Buccaneers and Tornados tied for much of the scrimmage, struggling at one point and falling behind. However, the Bucs came back to end the game 55-58, only losing by three. The team feels very good about next year and are preparing themselves for the move up to class 4A. Their main focus is to just keep improving, getting faster, stronger, and just smarter at the game. They have a very good chance at making it to a higher level next year than ever before.
